Bay Area newspaper and online media source Contra Costa Times today reported on the upcoming Saffron Strand 2014 Conference, June 16-17 at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium in Richmond.
The article by Robert Rogers, titled “Richmond homeless workforce conference to address employment skills,” quoted the Conference opening keynote speaker, consultant and author Dr. Ira Wolfe, and Saffron Strand CEO Yvonne Nair. Both emphasized the need to upgrade job skills and employment capability of local workers.
The problem is particularly acute in Richmond, Rogers reported, “where the 11.5 percent unemployment rate dwarfs the 6.7 percent national average, according to state Employment Development Department statistics.”
